Press clippings: Lineas’ transformation, financial outlook and future strategic partnership
Across interviews with Flows, De Tijd, Nieuwsblad Transport and DVZ, the message was consistent: Lineas has strengthened its foundations and is firmly focused on the next phase of its transformation.
Key messages
Erik highlighted our ambition to build a financially sustainable and increasingly competitive Lineas, with a clear path towards operational break-even in 2027 and cashflow break-even in 2028. Following the recent recapitalisation, we have a stronger financial base from which to continue executing our strategy.
At the heart of that strategy are quality, reliability and customer focus. We continue to simplify and optimise our operations, concentrate on the international corridors where we can create the most value for our Customers, and grow with them in areas such as intermodal transport, steel, chemicals and European port hinterland connections.
The interviews also looked beyond Lineas itself. Erik spoke about the challenges facing the European rail freight sector, from infrastructure disruptions and industrial pressure to intense competition, but also about the opportunities ahead. A more level European playing field, greater cooperation and, over time, further consolidation could help create a stronger and more sustainable rail freight industry.
Our Ambition
For Lineas, the ambition is clear: to reinforce our leading position in Belgium, build on our strong position in France, selectively grow in markets such as Germany and the Netherlands, and continue connecting Europe’s industrial regions and ports with a high-quality rail offering.
Most importantly for our customers, our priorities remain unchanged: reliable operations, continuous quality improvement and solutions that help make European supply chains more efficient and sustainable.
