Lineas is pleased to announce the extension of its partnership with NLMK Europe. The rail freight operator will continue to drive the majority of train services for the Belgian and French operations of the global steel company for the coming years.
The partnership goes back at least twenty years, with Lineas transporting slabs and coils for NLMK (previously Duferco) between its sites all over Europe.
NLMK has the ambition to increase its production volumes in the coming years significantly and trusts Lineas’ rail freight solutions to support the extra growth in transport needs.
Lineas will provide at least 38 regular trains per week between Ghent and the NLMK sites in Clabecq and La Louvière, as well as regular train transports to the NLMK site in Strasbourg, France and customers in various European countries.
Matthias Herrebosch, Director Sales at Lineas: “I am delighted to announce that we are continuing our relationship with NLMK. Our collaboration goes back decades, and we are pleased to continue our partnership over the coming years. Together, we ensure quick turnaround of their supply chains and prepare for future growth.”
Jaap Piso, Director Commercial & Supply Chain at NLMK adds: “Our strategic plan is orientated towards an increase in sales of high added value products. A true logistical challenge is ahead of us. We will continue to improve our customer service with our competitive partner Lineas and reduce our environmental footprint. Managing logistic costs is a key factor in NLMK’s competitiveness. By offering logistic solutions close to customer needs, we will strengthen our position in Europe.”
